I really like how you framed editing like personality traits. Very intriguing and insightful. I agree that the original bear photo is overly saturated and bright... but the redone one seems a little too much the other way, at least for my tastes. That said I'm no pro and am still figuring out all the editing stuff myself, just fiddling with settings, as you mention, until I'm happy enough. So much to learn!

I kinda thought the same thing, that maybe you overcompensated color-wise on the re-edit for the very vibrant greens of the original edit. Maybe a middle-ground could be okay on that one. That said, I love the bird shots (and I drooled at the mention of beaver dam…very lucky with a dipper AND beaver), they are charming. 🤩

I’m with you on the final result of that bear picture. I’m probably going to go back and add some contrast, and put some yellow back into that green. Maybe I’ll just edit like this for a while, but the last step will be to up the contrast and vibrance. We’ll see though. :)

Wow I LOVE that idea actually. I've been struggling with the same thing - what is my ~style~, but now i'll have to keep that in mind when moving my sliders around haha

Wow! The change in editing is incredible, love your female grouse image. I’ve gone through a similar realisation myself but still trying to find my style, loved the thought process you explained in this essay🙌🏼
